Exports of galvanized pipes surge as China-made goods regain global popularity—why?
Where does the order come from?
Last month, we just completed an order for 500 tons of galvanized pipes to be shipped to the Philippines, and this month we have received consecutive orders from customers in Vietnam and Saudi Arabia. It is worth noting that in addition to returning orders from existing customers, a considerable portion of these orders are trial orders from new customers.
A Saudi customer wrote in an email: "We compared the products of India, Türkiye and China, and finally chose you, because Chinese galvanized pipes have found the best balance in price and quality."
Why now?
The growth of export orders for galvanized pipes is not accidental. According to our observation, there are mainly the following reasons:
Global infrastructure construction is gradually recovering, especially in developing countries where the demand for galvanized pipes continues to rise in fields such as construction, water conservancy, and oil and gas. The construction of industrial zones in Vietnam, urbanization projects in Saudi Arabia, and water supply projects in East Africa all require a large amount of galvanized pipes.
On the other hand, after years of development, the domestic galvanized pipe industry has formed a complete industrial chain advantage. From raw material supply to production and processing, and then to surface treatment, the entire industry chain is mature and efficient, providing customers with competitive prices and stable quality.
Quality is the fundamental principle
We once received feedback from a Middle Eastern customer that galvanized pipes they had previously purchased from other suppliers had white rust in a humid environment for less than a year, while our product remained in good condition after two years of use in the same environment.
This is thanks to our strict control of the galvanizing process - the thickness of the zinc layer is controlled above 85 μ m, and we use a fully automatic hot-dip galvanizing production line to ensure that every inch of the pipe is uniformly galvanized. Speaking of quality is the best marketing.
The challenge still exists
Of course, export business is not always smooth sailing. Fluctuations in ocean freight rates, exchange rate risks, and fluctuations in raw material prices are all uncertain factors we face every day. An order that was just negotiated last week had to be re quoted due to a sudden increase in zinc prices.
In addition, the differences in standards between different markets are also obstacles that we must overcome. The United States requires ASTM standards, Europe requires EN standards, and the Middle East has its own specifications. Our technical team has to be proficient in various national standards to ensure that every shipment meets the requirements of the destination country.
Conclusion
In the workshop, another batch of galvanized pipes are being loaded onto trucks. They will be transported to Qingdao Port tomorrow and then cross the sea to reach Haiphong Port in Vietnam. There, they will become the structural support for an industrial plant.
Looking at these soon to be departed 'Iron Warriors', we feel deeply gratified——
Chinese manufacturing is playing an increasingly important role on the global stage, and we are a part of this grand narrative.
